PTotD: How much “messiness” can you stand?

I’m not talking about dirty vs. clean (I can’t stand dirty) - I’m talking about organized vs. disorganized… “messy” vs “neat.”

I can stand a pretty high degree of disorganization. When I used to live alone, I’d end up with stacks of books and papers next to the couch, next to the bed… and then I’d finally reach a breaking point where I’d madly organize so all the books were categorized by subject and alphabetized by authors last name. My music was organized by artist and then chronologically by album release date (back before it was all digitized). And then everything would degenerate until the next time it got bad enough to spur me into action.

My husband is completely obsessively neat. He always has everything organized and he has a weekly shredding session where he destroys anything that has our name and address on it that I would have just thrown in the trash. He cleans the pots and pans while we’re cooking. Everything has its place and is in its place.

Which is why (if you look at yesterdays PTotD) he does the bulk of the cleaning. After all, he never lets it get to the point when I’d be spurred to do my obsessive cleaning bit. He keeps it neat a little at a time. And I can never find anything.
