The idea behind taking little steps to big change is that by doing small things that I can turn into habits I can make start down the path to taking better care of myself and then gradually begin to build on this (rather than committing to some huge and then pooping out). So, how’s it going?
- Walked the dog 5 days, each day I was in town, MTFSS. Current walk is about 30 minutes and 1.25 miles (measured by GPS today), so not fast-paced
- Did about 5-10 minutes of yoga on the mornings the two days I was out of town, WTh. I can tell I’m pretty out of shape because I can feel it in my shoulders that the push-ups in the vinyasas are pretty tiring for me
- Not drinking that much more water so need to start making sure a water supply is available, especially when I’m out of town
- … but doing pretty well in drinking fewer sugared beverages, having replaced my regular Starbucks drink with a sugar-free one and received lots of sugar-free syrups as a gift
- Gave myself a week off from eating dessert just once a week because it was my birthday
- Got my teeth cleaned at the dentist Tuesday. No cavities, YAY! Flossed every day except one since then. Need to buy some new floss for traveling and maybe get some floride rinse for home since I drink mostly bottled water
So, that’s it. Pretty happy with how things are going and I think that either tomorrow morning or next week I will weigh myself to get my baseline for the year. I’ve been too scared so far because I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been right now, but it’s important to know where I stand so I can see how things proceed.
